Position Overview:

We seek motivated and detail-oriented individuals to grow into the Junior Digital Forensics Examiner role in our Minnesota-based firm. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development and growth in digital forensics. The successful candidates will receive comprehensive training and mentorship from our experienced forensic experts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior examiners to conduct forensic examinations of digital devices, including computers, mobile phones, online cloud accounts, and storage media.
  • Learn and apply industry-standard forensic tools and methods to acquire, preserve, analyze, and produce digital evidence.
  • Participate in the documentation of examination processes and findings under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support preparation of detailed reports and exhibits summarizing and illustrating forensic analysis results.
  • Gain exposure to the process of developing expert testimony in legal proceedings, including drafting written reports, creating demonstrative exhibits, and assisting with courtroom presentations.
  • Collaborate with team members to contribute to findings in digital investigations that culminate in civil and criminal litigation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant coursework and digital forensic certifications may be considered instead of a completed degree.
  • Strong interest in digital forensics as a career and a desire to learn and develop expertise in the field.
    Understanding of computer systems, networks, and operating systems.
  • Familiarity with forensic tools such as Cellebrite UFED, Magnet Forensics AXIOM, Oxygen Forensic Detective, Elcomsoft iOS Forensic Toolkit, OpenText EnCase, AccessData FTK, or open-source tools is a definite plus but not required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Introductory Written Testimony:

As a Junior Digital Forensics Examiner, you may have the opportunity to be exposed to or assist in the preparation of written testimony for legal proceedings or settlement talks. This may include documenting digital forensic protocols and examination procedures clearly and concisely. Under the guidance of senior team members, you will learn to communicate complex technical information professionally in a format accessible to non-technical audiences.
